Goodness Me! has chosen Brantford, Ontario to open its first dedicated distribution centre. The company purchased a 60,400 sq.ft. industrial building located at 37 Woodyatt Dr. that will allow them to purchase and distribute more locally grown food and supply their five Southern Ontario stores. When fully operational the new centre will employ 35 employees with growth to 50+ as it scales up. Within the next two years a commissary will be added, where fresh foods will be prepared for sale in their stores.
The company currently employs 250 in total at its five stores, with locations in Hamilton, Brantford, Waterdown and Burlington and plans to open three new store in Mississauga, Guelph and Barrie for 2014. In 2015, two other stores are to open including Paris.
Mike Jacks, owner of Goodness Me sited Brantford was chosen for a number of reasons including key factors such as availability and cost of real estate, available workforce, local property tax ratio reduction policy, access to area amenities, central location to its retail stores and a co-operative pro-business city staff.
