Aimed at expanding its presence in the North American confectionary market, Ferrero will add four new lines and invest an additional $36 Million in state-of-the-art automated manufacturing equipment and machinery at its Brantford, Ontario facility. The new lines will leverage two of Ferrero’s world leading brands, Nutella and Tic Tac, launching a new range of products and creating 55 new skilled jobs.
Ferrero’s story in Brantford began in 2006, when the confectionary marvel inaugurated a 900,000 square foot industrial facility on 160 acres of land in the City’s Northwest Industrial Park. With an initial investment of approximately $150M/CDN and 500 full time employees, the Brantford facility produces world renowned products under the Ferrero Rocher, Tic Tac and Nutella brands.
Building on this initial investment, in 2012 a $50 Million 500,000 square foot warehouse/distribution facility was added resulting in a further 60 full time equivalent jobs. Collectively, the Brantford facility encompasses over 1,500,000 square feet of space, 655 full time/500 part time employees and boasts fixed assets exceeding $450 million. Its chocolate and confectionary products are exported to all parts of North America, Australia and Europe. The Ferrero production facility represents one of the most important food manufacturing facilities in the Province and has helped define Brantford as a significant food processing cluster within Ontario.
